Consultation on Hampshire’s admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools

Hampshire County Council is consulting with parents, schools and other local authorities on its proposed admissions arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools in its administrative area, for September 2014.

The changes being proposed to the 2014 admission policy are as follows:

  • Introduction of catchment priority for siblings of children displaced from their catchment school because of oversubscription in the normal admissions round.
  • Introduction of a ‘children attending the linked infant school’ criterion for inclusion in junior school policies, positioned after out of catchment siblings.
  • Introduction of a restriction in the use of the ‘Medical’ criterion to the normal admissions round only.
  • Introduction of a ‘Children of staff’ criterion in the primary, infant, junior and secondary school admission policies, for children living outside the catchment area. (Staff refers to all employees on the school payroll.)

The consultation on these proposals will run for eight weeks, from Thursday 01 November 2012 to Friday 28 December 2012.
